In Croatia there’s a few sections of the White trail I’m skipping; hiking on asphalt, exposed to the sun, lot’s of private land and no hotels or so, no, I’m not doing that. These sections are marked as mountain-bike trails anyway. This makes my hike about 160km shorter.
Luckily, I got in contact with Ricardo from Zbulo!, he told me about these beautiful Alpine mountains on the Kosovo-North Macedonia-Albania border. They’re working on an extension of the Via Dinarica-trail over there – he was sure I wouldn’t want to miss out on that…
Šar, Korab and Bistra mountains
These mountains are called the Šar, Korab and Bistra mountains. After checking out the route, pictures on Google Earth and speaking to one of my friends, off course I could not say ‘no’ to this offer.
So Lake Ohrid, North Macedonia is the southern terminus I’m aiming for this summer! Adding another 200km to my Via Dinarica – making it a little short of 1400km.
I’ll let you know when more information about this, not to be missed, part of the Dinarica gets available online 😉
