I’m Claire and I love the outdoors. Since there aren’t a lot of mountains in the Netherlands I’m travelling abroad as much as possible. In 2015 I’ve hiked the Pacific Crest Trail in the US. This is when I started blogging about my adventures.
From juni 1 I’ll be exploring the Balkans in Eastern Europe. Starting at the Italian/Slovenian border hiking through Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro into Albania – following the Dinaric Alps, the Via Dinarica – the trail that’s becoming a trail.
The Via Dinarica is a different cookie compared to the red carpet-like PCT which I hiked in 2015. This, yet to become trail, runs from Slovenia through Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro into Albania. The 1200 kilometer long trail follows the Dinaric Alps, the largest Karst field to be found on earth.
The Via Dinarica is a project in progress; local people are working (hard!) on the infrastructure. There’s three possible trails; blue (coast), white (higher mountains) en green (lower mountains). Even though there’s GPS-data available, there are parts that aren’t hiking trails yet.
Also hiking a Via Dinarica?
